Muzeum Wojska Polskiego (Warsaw War Museum)

Rating : 4.5 out of 5 (If you are interested in war histories)

If you happen to be someone who is absolutely awed at World War 2 stories, the Warsaw War Museum is a must-visit place on your itinerary when you are in this city. For the fact that it was once a main confrontation point, you can expect most of the war machines and artefacts found in the museum to be excavated or found from within the city itself. Let me take you through some of the things on display in the museum with some photos.

At the entrance, you are greeted by some of the most widely used tanks during World War 2 namely the T-34 as shown in the photo below, as well as a Sherman, MS-1 etc and a few fighters.

A memorial in front of the main building of the museum.

On the front compound of the museum, you will find quite many war machines on display ranging from artilleries, batteries, fighters, bombers, heavy tanks, medium tanks, tank destroyers, rocket launchers, artillery shells and other miscellaneous vehicles. There is even an 'DORA' artillery shell on display. You could easily spend more than 45 minutes only on the front compound of the museum if you look at every single vehicle and objects on display.

A destroyed Hetzer on the front compound of the museum. The armour wasn't really thick, I imagined what would have it been like when it was fired at.

An exciting line-up of heavy and medium tanks.

Just before you enter the main entrance of the museum building, you will be able to come up close to a Soyuz capsule as shown below, well I'm referring to the round object next to the armour vehicle if you do not know what is a Soyuz capsule.

Upon entering the museum's main building, you will be able to see a great deal of knight-ish armour on display along with knight's weapons.

You will then be given an extensive eye opener on the vast variety of soldier weaponry.

As well as different types of uniforms and clothings, a lot of them. The photo shown below is not even a fraction of the total uniforms on display.

Towards the end of the museum route, you will be able to see a fairly huge collection of miscellaneous items and objects that World War 2 soldiers use from various countries.

To be honest, I was greatly amazed mostly at the war machines on the front compound. The artefacts displayed inside the building was a bit of a drag to me, especially towards the end of the museum route which bore me a little. Nevertheless, it greatly depends on your own preference and purpose of visiting the museum.

As for ticket prices and opening hours or other information, it is better to check directly on the museum's website here http://www.muzeumwp.pl/cennik-biletow.php . Do note admissions are free on Sundays.
